Unlocking the Secrets of Sexual Health and Hormone Regulation
This week’s newsletter is dedicated to the fascinating realm of sexual health and hormonal regulation. For so many men and women sex, sexual performance and intimacy are often not optimal in their lives yet they are ashamed to discuss any of these details with their doctors or even their partners because there is so much shame attached to sexual pleasure or lack of sexual performance as human beings. This week I would like to focus especially on us WOMEN, and yes all that is being discussed can apply to our male counterparts as well.
Sexual health is a multifaceted aspect of our lives, intricately connected to our physical, emotional, and mental states. For some, it may be tied to past traumas or belief systems that limit their ability to enjoy and feel fulfilled in their bodies and relationships. I say this to be mindful that this is a complex topic and needs careful attention to detail and empathy for an individual’s needs. I intend to share a few thoughts about natural options for increasing sexual arousal, and libido, improving vaginal dryness, and decreasing hot flashes and insomnia. At the heart of this complex interplay lies the regulation of hormones, which exert profound influences on our sexual desire, arousal, and satisfaction.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
BHRT involves using hormones identical to those naturally produced in the body to restore hormonal balance. Derived from plant sources, these bioidentical hormones are tailored to individual needs. BHRT works by supplementing deficient hormones, such as Estrogen, Progesterone, Testosterone, and DHEA aiming to alleviate symptoms of hormonal deficiencies.
BHRT is beneficial for individuals experiencing symptoms of hormonal imbalance, including menopausal or perimenopausal women, andropausal men, and those with thyroid imbalances. However, many versions of hormones can be used for anyone experiencing issues in the body at any age. I am very conservative with BHRT and it is often my later choice in balancing hormones. Many times, a change in diet, lifestyle, detoxification, herbal formulas, and Homeopathics can offer great solutions and fix most hormonal issues. BHRT is a valuable option for those who are having severe symptoms or debilitating complications from a decrease in their major hormones during menopause or andropause.
Caution with supplementary hormones is advised for pregnant women, individuals with certain medical conditions such as hormone-sensitive cancers and those with a history of breast cancer, endometrial cancer, blood clots, or liver disease.
BHRT provides personalized hormone balance to relieve symptoms and enhance quality of life. Using bioidentical hormones that mirror the body’s physiological mechanisms is an effective treatment option for uncovering insights that may illuminate new pathways to sexual vitality and wellness.
There are other natural options for improving sexual health and relationships…
Oxytocin
Oxytocin, often dubbed the “love hormone,” is a powerful neurotransmitter crucial for social bonding and emotional well-being. Produced in the brain, it influences various aspects of human behavior and physiology:
- Social Bonding: Enhances trust, empathy, and cooperation, fostering closeness between individuals.
- Reproductive Functions: Facilitates childbirth and lactation by stimulating uterine contractions and milk release.
- Stress Reduction: Mitigates the body’s stress response, promoting relaxation.
- Emotional Regulation: Modulates mood and may alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Oxytocin can be used to increase libido, decrease anxiety and build connection between you and you partner in a very gentle and spontaneous manner.
PT-141: Igniting Passion
PT-141 is an analog of the naturally occurring hormone alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), which regulates sexual arousal and appetite. PT-141 may be beneficial for individuals experiencing low libido or sexual dysfunction, including both men and women. By targeting the brain’s neural circuits associated with arousal, it bypasses the limitations of traditional treatments and offers a novel approach to addressing sexual dysfunction. It can help reignite passion and enhance sexual satisfaction by also addressing underlying psychological factors that contribute to decreased desire. Caution is advised for pregnant individuals and those with high blood pressure.
O- SHOT:
The “O-Shot” is a non-surgical procedure designed to improve sexual function in women. It involves using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) extracted from the patient’s own blood and injecting it into specific areas of the vagina and clitoris. It is non painful and a numbing cream is used to make the procedure comfortable.
Here’s how the procedure generally works:
- Consultation: Before the procedure, the patient typically has a consultation with Dr. Nyree to discuss their concerns and determine if they are a suitable candidate for the O-Shot.
- Blood Draw: A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, similar to a standard blood test.
- PRP Extraction: The blood sample is then placed in a centrifuge machine, which spins at high speeds to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other components of the blood.
- Injection: Once the PRP is obtained, it is injected into specific areas of the vagina and clitoris using a fine needle. These injections aim to stimulate tissue regeneration and increase blood flow to the genital area, which can potentially enhance sexual arousal, sensation, and orgasmic function.
The O-Shot is often marketed as a treatment for various sexual concerns in women, including difficulty achieving orgasm, decreased sexual desire, and urinary incontinence.
