Bio for Stephen Davis
I was born in the incredible place of Washington D.C. During the 1950’s and 60’s it was a magical location and I was exposed to so much theater, music, art and ideas at an early age. My parents, Zelpha and Lachlan (no, really) were very encouraging to me in my budding talents as a writer, speaker, musician and artist. My fascination in the unusual and spiritual dates back to my childhood. I played brass instruments and sang from elementary school years, taught myself the electric guitar at age 14, played in many rock and top forty bands, and attended college with a major in music, playing the French horn and singing opera. After a stint playing folk rock on the road in North Carolina, I returned to University to earn my B.A. in psychology. During my Psychology studies I was introduced to what I now know as Reiki by a close friend and Professor. In college I immersed myself in studies of Carl Jung, and all the new investigations in the paranormal world happening at Duke University and other academic locations. After college I returned to the music world and joined many touring groups playing guitar, bass guitar, drums and the flute. I composed music as well and contributed the title song “I pledge my life” to an album by The Rainbow People in 1978. I got involved with a spiritual Ashram and group under the teachings of a Doc Lew Childre in North Carolina. Lew and the group moved to California in 1980s and formed The Heart Math Institute with international success and multiple teaching tools and books. When my daughter Heather was born in 1980, I stopped playing music in clubs and focused on a career in retail with the Army and Air force Exchange service eventually attending business school and being appointed as a store manager on a military base. I lived for 2 years in California and worked at inpatient mental health facilities where I ran groups, did intake assessments and one to one counseling. When I eventually came to Florida, and then down to Hernando County I was hired in 1987 by then Hernando County Mental Health Center and served for nearly 30 years as a case manager, emergency services evaluator, and Supervisor of several programs for what was eventually called Bay Care. I retired in 2015. I have earned my PH.D. in Metaphysical Sciences from the University of Metaphysical Science in Arcata, Ca. I have a certificate as an instructor of Qigong. I earned my third degree Reiki Master certificate and teach Reiki classes. I am a Minister and perform weddings. I have presented presentations on the benefits and how to of meditation, and I am a Certified Mental Health Professional in the State of Florida.
